BI SC 004
Human Body: Form & Function
Everyone should understand, to some extent, how their lives depend on a properly developed and functioning body. It is important to understand biological principles fundamental to understanding human life, such as cell structure, metabolism, organ functions, human genetics, and how the human body reacts to disease. BI SC 004 combines the study of human anatomy, which is the study of parts of the human body, with human physiology, which is the study of how parts of the body work together to make the body function. It is an introductory course for non-science majors that provides a general survey of structure and function of the human body—from conception, through growth and reproduction to death. By course end, students should develop a better understanding about the human body that will assist them as they deal with their own injuries or illnesses in the future, as well as other’s.
